Veterans Sing

A Choir. A Community. A Lifeline.

Veterans Sing is a welcoming community choir for veterans and their families. You don't need any previous singing experience—just come along and enjoy the friendship, laughter and sense of belonging that music brings.

Our charity exists to improve the health, wellbeing and quality of life of veterans through singing, friendship and mutual support. We believe that nobody who has served should have to face loneliness or isolation alone.

Whether you've sung all your life or never sung a note, you'll receive a warm welcome.

Our Sessions

We meet fortnightly on Friday mornings at:

St Alban's the Martyr (The Garrison Church)
Homefield Road
Colchester
CO2 9PF

Time: 10.15am – 12.15pm

​

Each session includes:

• Tea, coffee and refreshments on arrival

• Time to chat and catch up with friends

• A professionally led choir session accompanied by a live musician

• Plenty of laughter and encouragement

• The opportunity to stay for lunch afterwards at the café next door (optional and payable separately)

 

There is ample parking and easy access to the venue.

There is also a chance to perform at a number of events throughout the year both as a veterans group and as part of the larger community choir of Harwich Sing Tendring Voices

Why We Exist

Veterans can experience loneliness, poor mental health, loss of identity, ill health and social isolation after leaving military service.

Veterans Sing provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where people who understand military life can come together, make lasting friendships and enjoy the many proven benefits of singing.

Through music we aim to:

• Improve mental health and emotional wellbeing.

• Reduce loneliness and social isolation.

• Build confidence and self-esteem.

• Promote physical wellbeing through breathing and singing.

• Celebrate military heritage through music and community performances.

• Bring veterans, families, volunteers and local communities together.

 

For many of our members, Veterans Sing has become far more than a choir—it has become a support network and a place where they feel understood.

Membership

We ask for a suggested contribution of £15 per month to help towards running costs.

However, we never want finances to prevent anyone from taking part. If paying would be difficult, please get in touch in confidence. We will always do our best to help.

 

Support Our Work

Veterans Sing is currently awaiting registration with the Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

While our registration is being processed, we continue to rely on the generosity of supporters, grants and fundraising to ensure veterans can continue to benefit from our services.

• Support for veterans experiencing loneliness or isolation

• Transport assistance where possible

• Opportunities to perform within the community
